Nightwave: How does it work?
NightWave guides you in a special pre-sleep relaxation session in the privacy of your own bedroom. Within minutes, your body and mind become ready to drift into restful sleep. It''s like having your own personal sleep coach.
NightWave projects a soft blue light on the ceiling of your darkened bedroom. The "luminance" of the light slowly rises and falls. Lay with eyes open and synchronize your breathing with the blue wave as its movement becomes slower and slower. Then NightWave automatically shuts off and you roll over and fall asleep. What''s more... the soft light does not disturb others.

NightWave is perfectly silent. It works for you while not disturbing others. You can easily fall asleep while NightWave is still running without having to remove a mask or get tangled in wires. It''s unbelievably easy.
Why Breathing? Deep breathing works so well, because it activates the parasympathetic branch of the involuntary nervous system causing an immediate "relaxation response" in the body. Muscle tension goes down, stress level goes down, heart rate variability (HRV) becomes smooth, blood pressure normalizes, and mood becomes softer.
Why Eyes Open? NightWave is one of the first products for sleep that require you to gaze at a blue light. Why? Keeping your eyes open helps you fall asleep in two ways. First, it lets you see the "blue wave" in your darkened bedroom to guide you in relaxation breathing. Second, open eyes and the blue light have their own unique effects.
Research confirms that blue light helps re-calibrate the circadian rhythm, the body''s sensitivity to day and night through specific receptors in the eye that interpret blue light as daylight. When the brain sees this blue light fading away, the brain may interpret this as "time to sleep."
Another theory involves the psychological principle of "paradoxical intent" whereby the effort to keep one''s eyes open in bed may induce the opposite effect on the system.
